What an exceptional man was Dr Martin Luther King. Today I honor a visionary, a humanist, a revolutionary, a true hero. I wish there were more people like you on this earth, people with more courage and not afraid to speak the truth! As you said “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way”. Instead dear Mr. King, we are failing miserably, falling into a world of pathetic mediocracy, selfishness and ignorance. You warned us that “nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity” and that’s why Racism, Speciesism and Sexism unfortunately are still thriving today. I wish that your wise words will be remembered and will perpetuate and resonate in all humans. We must understand that “Sooner or later all the people of the world will have to discover a way to live together in peace, and thereby transform this pending cosmic elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood”. We are in great danger of extinction if we don’t change the course of things now and if we remain sentient about the awful suffering and terror that the animals have to endure. “One day the absurdity of the most universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls and become worthier of sharing this planet with them”.
