Today is not only World Humanitarian day but also World Orangutan day. We must increase public worldwide awareness about humanitarian assistance and the importance of international public understanding and cooperation on ALL fronts.
There are plans to wipe 1.2 million hectares of forest off the map in Sumatra, replacing some of the most biodiverse rainforest in the world with gold mining, oil palm plantations, logging and roads. These forests are the only place on Earth where orangutans, tigers, elephants and rhinos co-exist. And they all are critically endangered. Experts have warned that if these plans go ahead, all these iconic species could face extinction within 10 years!
Close to 90% of the orangutans have disappeared over the last fifty years. Extinction is forever!

What is wrong with this picture? She’s wearing a Louis Vuitton coat made out of sheep skin, the same sweet beautiful little animal that she’s holding! ? What a controversy. I find it very disturbing that we treat our animals with such disrespect and disregard, like they don’t matter or don’t have any feelings. When did we become so indifferent? And why is it acceptable? All animals on this earth feel emotions, just look into their eyes…. They never lie because their souls are pure. When did we lose our compassion? When did we become so indifferent? Is this luxury? No it’s not. It’s narcissistic, superficial and cruel. Shame on us humans! And shame on all the fashion magazines that keep on featuring real fur on every page! Don’t they know that most woman don’t wear real fur?

These magnificent creatures are some of the most intelligent, compassionate and honorable animals on the planet. But if we continue at this pace, they will be extinct by the end of next decade ? “Today more than ever before, life must be characterized by a sense of Universal Responsibility, not only Nation to Nation and human to human, but also human to all other forms of life” – Dali Lama
